Privacy policy

SamajVerse ("we") runs the SamajVerse app and website for samaj (community) organisations. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. It follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Account: your mobile number (for OTP login) and name.
• Profile and family details you add: photo, city, mool gaam, gotra, education, profession, blood group, family members and relations.
• Activity in your samaj: posts, event RSVPs, donations and receipts, matrimony profiles, requests and messages.
• Device data: a notification token so we can send you alerts, and basic error logs.

We do not collect Aadhaar or bank account numbers. We do not record your religion.

Why we use it

• To run your samaj's app: directory, events, donations, matrimony and other services your samaj turns on.
• To let your samaj committee approve members and manage the samaj.
• To send notifications you can switch off in settings.
• To keep the app secure and fix problems.

We never sell your data and we do not show advertising based on it.

Who can see your data

• Only approved members of your own samaj can see the directory. People outside your samaj cannot.
• Your phone number is hidden from other members unless you choose to show it or approve a contact request.
• Your samaj's committee can see member details needed to manage the samaj.
• Service providers that run the app for us: Supabase (database and storage), Google Firebase (notifications) and Google Gemini (the optional AI assistant, which receives only the questions you type). They process data only on our instructions.

Children

Children do not create their own accounts. A parent can add a child's profile (first name and age group only) and use Kids mode, which has no chat, no ads and no outside links. We process children's data only with a parent's consent.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records the law requires us or your samaj to keep, such as issued donation receipts.

Security

Data is stored on secure cloud servers with access rules that limit each samaj's data to its own members. Login uses one-time passwords, so no passwords are stored.
